SERVICE DOGS
This is an important goal of our mission statement. We are starting our program with Golden Retrievers and Goldendoodles to assist children and adults with special needs (Wheel Chair bound or other dogs that contribute to the freedom and safety of people with disabilities.) Other breeds such as Labradors, German Shepherds, Standard Poodles, etc. may also be available in the future or for an immediate need - possibly on request. We are working on developing a line of Goldendoodle puppies with the objective of providing low-allergen wheel-chair assistance dogs. All of our service dogs will come with all shots up-to-date, equipment, and personal training for the new owner.

We truly understand the many benefits of service dogs, as well as the power of the human-animal bond in providing comfort, confidence and companionship for children and adults with special needs.

DePAW University, Canine Campus, Inc. will breed and raise dogs to assist people with special needs – wheel chair bound. The life of a service dog requires a great deal of confidence and intelligence, and it's just not for every dog. Dogs that don't succeed as service dogs or that are not selected for our program are usually exceptional, sensitive companion dogs -- a perfect fit for the family including that of a special needs child. In the future if you think you, your family, or your child may benefit from one of our special dogs, please visit our web page “Dogs for Sale.”

We will need funding for such things as veterinary expenses, equipment, puppy jackets and transporting dogs between our volunteers, staffing, etc. There are a number or ways you can help: Individual donations, corporate sponsorships, materials and services or special requests. For donations call or email us at 630-232-8663 or DePAWK9@depawK9campus.com

A few examples of what our service dogs will be capable of doing are:

Pull your wheel chair if necessary
Pick up and carry items
Open and close doors
Turn lights on and off
Bring items to you
Press elevator buttons
Lie down next to you and help lift you off the ground if you fall
Summon or retrieve help if a wheel chair gets stuck
Help you with overall mobility

DePAW University, Canine Campus’ service dogs will receive the best training available. In addition, the training is guaranteed for life.

We are preparing for this program to off the ground in the near future. Please visit us again for updates and details.
