Inappropriate
Behavior and/or Dog Fights
Although dogs will be dogs,
the key to dog fights is prevention. We do not accept aggressive dogs
for our daycare program. Our interview process screens for aggression.
Dogs running free are always supervised. If an accepted dog exhibits
unacceptable behavior, we will work with the situation on a case by
case basis. If the problem persists the dog is kenneled and the owner
is informed of the concern.
As a part of prevention, this is why we ask that no toys or bones be
brought in. Dogs can be possessive of their own belongings. We realize
that we are a facility that prides itself on helping all dogs reach
their potential. Therefore, we are here to help resolve any aggression
or behavioral problems and will work with the owner. If we are training
a dog with an aggressive behavior, we may ask that the dog be muzzled
and worked with to avoid mishaps. If the issue cannot be resolved the
dog will be asked to not return to daycare.
Dog Injuries or
Illnesses
All dogs are constantly supervised and monitored, however, should any
dog become sick or injured and require veterinary attention during
their stay, we will first attempt to call or take the dog to its own
Vet, but if the dog’s own Vet is not available or practical for
the situation, we will take the dog to the vet of our choice. Owners
will be responsible for any bills and or fees incurred by a visit to
the veterinarian in the case of an emergency.

Dog Supervision
The dogs are constantly supervised. Inappropriate play is stopped and
good behavior is rewarded. The staff keeps the dogs safe, clean and well
cared for. For overnight boarding, we have a live, 24 hour surveillance
camera monitoring system to supervise our guests during the night.
Failing The
Evaluation or Being Evicted From Daycare
Failing the evaluation or being evicted from daycare does happen, but it
is not the end of the world. DePAW University, Canine Campus, Inc. does
want to do what’s best for all the dogs in our care. If your dog fails
the daycare evaluation, it does not mean we don’t care about your dog.
This unique environment may just be too overwhelming. Some dogs just
need a little training and socialization before coming to daycare.
Dogs That Are Shy or Growl Sometimes
If your dog doesn’t pass the first time, we can suggest a training
option to help teach more appropriate dog-to-dog interactions. If your
dog is shy, don’t worry. All first timers go through an orientation
process so they can meet all the dogs in small groups on their first
day. This helps them adjust. If you would like, try a half day to keep
your dog’s stress level low. Give your dog a couple really good treats
on your way in the door. Don’t act nervous or overprotective or your
dog will become more nervous. If you are planning on boarding, do a
couple daycare sessions first so they can get adjusted before their long
stay.
Food & Water
It is recommended that the food be owner-supplied to maintain
consistency in your dog’s diet. We can provide food if you forget
to bring your food or if you simply prefer we use our food, but there
is an additional charge. Please be sure to bring more than enough for
your dog's stay with us in the event you are delayed on your return
home.
Most dogs do fine without lunch but it is your
choice. If your dog is here for daycare, and you wish for your dog to
have lunch, bring your own baggie with their name on it. Dogs are not
given anything you don’t supply or approve. There is no food allowed
in the play areas so all dogs are separated and fed individually.
Toys & Beds
Please do not bring big beds. Overnighters are encouraged to bring
blankets or easily washable bedding for their pets. If not, don’t
fret… included with their stay we supply blankets and/or
carpeting, food dishes and water for all of our guests to ensure their
comfort during their stay.. For the safety of your dog and due to some
dogs’ habits (such as chewing)… blankets, beds, and/or
carpeting are supplied within their sleeping area at no charge on
request.
Collars
All dogs for boarding and daycare must have a collar (preferably a
plastic snap buckle collar) with a tag that has the dogs first, last
name and phone number.
A Clean & Safe Facility
DePAW University, Canine Campus, Inc. use cleaners and disinfectants
that are specifically designed for kennels that kill 99.9% of any
parasites, worms, distemper/parvo, fleas, etc. We are constantly dog
proofing and checking for safety issues.
